City of Campbell River seeking pier concession operator

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Interested in scooping giant ice cream cones, welcoming tourists, answering their questions and helping people wanting to fish from Campbell River’s saltwater pier this summer?

The City of Campbell River is seeking a new operator for the Discovery Pier Concession.

“If you have what it takes to serve the community while building or expanding your small business or not-for-profit, consider applying to operate the Discovery Pier concession,” a city release states.

“The pier is an important tourist destination and a favourite gathering space in our community – and the concession is a key attraction,” said Elle Brovold, the city’s corporate officer.

“Our current concession operator has let us know that they will terminate their contract due to restructuring in their organization, and the city is looking for a new group to take over concession operations for the 2019 summer season.”

The concession on the Discovery Pier serves a variety of food and beverages from May to October. The operator will also run a fishing equipment rental service as part of their operations.

Completed application forms are due by 3:00 p.m. on March 7.

In 2017, the City renovated and modernized the concession stand and public washrooms.
