Superintendent updates parents on teachers strike

The School District 72 superintendent has put out a letter to parents saying the BC Teachers Federation may choose to escalate their strike if a deal isn’t reached by the end of the year.

Tom Longridge writes this could mean rotating closures, possibly on a rotating district wide basis.

He adds that the BCTF must provide school districts with 48 hours strike notice before any such rotating strike.

Some field trips and other end of year activities are being changed or cancelled because of the potential of a strike, writes Longridge, but as of right now graduation ceremonies will go ahead as planned.
