Campbell River RCMP arrest violent offender

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – The Campbell River Community Response Unit arrested a man known to flee from police.

According to a release from the detachment, the male suspect was arrested after a brief struggle on Saturday May 18th on Holm Road.

The man was allegedly driving while prohibited. When officers tried to arrest him, he reportedly tried to get away and fight officers to avoid arrest.

After a brief struggle, the man was taken into custody. He is facing possible charges of driving while prohibited, assault of a peace officer, and resisting arrest.

The released added that the Campbell River officers and the man suffered minor injuries as a result of the struggle.

“It is extremely important to us here at the Campbell River RCMP that individuals with high levels of criminality are removed from the streets when they are committing offences in order to keep the public in Campbell River safe,” Cst. Maury Tyre, the detachment’s spokesperson wrote in the release.
