The BC Teachers Federation has announced it is moving to phase two of job action and that means rotating strikes.
A BCTF press release states Campbell River’s school district 72 is set to be shut down Monday, May 26th along with 15 other school districts in the Province. Closures are set to happen in other school districts May 27, 28 and 29 will all schools open again Friday, May 30. Extension of the rotating strikes will depend on bargaining.
President Jim Iker says, “The BCTF Executive Committee and Bargaining Team have come to a difficult decision that because of government’s unwillingness to move on class size and class composition as well as fair wages, teachers will move to stage 2 of our job action.”
Iker says the BCTF will remain at the bargaining table with six days to go before the first schools close.
