COMOX, B.C – The Comox Fire Department has more sprinkler kits available for residents to purchase.

Comox Fire Chief Gord Schreiner said more kits came in last week, but only about half remain.

“Last Friday we got about 50 more of the WASP sprinkler kits in, as of this morning I have about 22 of them left, they are selling fairly quickly.”

Schreiner added that the kits aid in fire protection during wildfires.

“They do make a big difference in the time of a wildfire, they keep the fuel around your property wet; the fuel being the branches, leaves, grass, stuff like that.”

The kits include two sprinkler heads which attach to the gutters of a home, and help dampen the roof and surrounding area as a fire approaches.

The WASP Sprinkler Kits are available for $154.99, and can be purchased by visiting the fire hall located at 1870 Noel Avenue, or by calling 250-339-2432.
