Campbell River peewee lacrosse team wins gold

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – The Campbell River Ravens are celebrating a first place finish.

The peewee lacrosse team took gold at a tournament over the weekend.

The team competed in the Pop Styles Peewee Tournament in Port Coquitlam and beat Kelowna 6-3 in the final.

The team signed up for the tournament not knowing what to expect and not only did it win the gold medal in the C Division, but also all the games in the round robin play.

It was a tough opponent however, as Kelowna also won all of the round robin games in their pool.

Assistant Coach Will Hart said the team played really well, and the players were happy to take home the title.

“As a team they all contributed, they really did dig down, even at points where we were tied or behind they didn’t lose hope or focus,” said Hart.

“I think they really saw that gold medal at the end and they really wanted it, every single one of them really dug deep and were able to pull it off.”

He added that because half a season is left, it will help them move forward and get into the postseason.

“I think this was a huge motivator for all our kids, and I think it’s really got them to finish the season off strong, and hoping to find ourselves in a provincial spot.”
