City hopes to win another award for 2018 report

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – Campbell River’s 2017 annual report won the international Government Finance Officers Association award.

Now, the city wants to win it again for its 2018 annual report.

Building on the features of the 2017 report, city staff also included a scorecard which will be reviewed in a council meeting.

“Along with the extensive financial analysis that was recognized with an award for the 2017 report, the 2018 report includes the first ever city scorecard section,” city manager Deborah Sargent said.

“The Scorecard aims to track trends and measure outcomes. It uses graphic icons to illustrate the types of service delivered and share results.”

The city’s 2017 report included a letter from the chief financial officer and a statistics section that provided a breakdown of the city’s finances for readers.

This type of organization also helped Campbell River win budget presentation awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

“Over the last several years, the city has improved the annual report by sharing more information, and presenting it in a more visual, accessible way,” Sargent added.

The reports are published on the city’s website
