CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – The Conservation Officer Service is asking residents to stay away from the Sportsplex.

Officer Steve Petrovcic says they have received calls during this morning about a cougar sighting in the area.

He says the service is asking residents to avoid travelling in the green space between the Sportsplex and Rockland Road.

“We are just requesting that the public avoid the area at this time, while officers are searching for the cougar,” he said.

If residents happen to see it in a yard or any other residential area, they are asked to contact the Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
