City launches application process for developers

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – Developers will now have to meet with city planners when they submit development applications.

According to the City of Campbell River, this will help streamline the approval process.

“Campbell River continues to be a very busy place for development, and development can be complicated,” the city’s director of planning Peter Wipper said.

“We recognize that applicants need to be able to plan their projects, and we are striving to ensure everyone understands the process and knows what’s next to help everything run as smoothly as possible.”

Meeting with the city planner will ensure that the application is complete. It also gives a chance for the city planner to clarify what else is required if anything is missing. The meeting also lays out timelines for applications so all parties know what to expect and when.

“This is an example of how we intend to make our processes clearer for all development applicants,” development services manager Kevin Brooks said. “The City is committed to on-going improvements to enhance the application process.”

From July 29th onwards, applicants will meet with a development planner to review applications.

To book an application review meeting, get in touch with the Development Services Department at [email protected] or call 250-286-5725.
