MP hosting Town Hall meeting next week in Courtenay

The public is invited to have a chat with Courtenay-Alberni MP Gord Johns next week.

Johns is hosting a Town Hall discussion focused on a new green deal for Canada next Thursday, July 25th in Courtenay.

The meeting with NDP House Leader Peter Julian runs from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Florence Filberg Centre.

“Ambitious, science-based greenhouse gas reductions targets are required to help stabilize the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius,” Johns said.

“Peter Julian and I are looking forward to engaging local citizens in a discussion of a Green New Deal that will include a sustainable green economy with more opportunities for workers, not less.”

This is the third major climate Town Hall organized by Johns since his election in 2015.

“As with our previous public meetings, there will be lots of opportunity for participants to ask questions and express their own ideas and opinions,” Johns said.

“Delay and denial have left us unprepared as the world moves towards a low-carbon future and we need to hear from all sides about a Green New Deal.”

During his term as Member of Parliament for Courtenay-Alberni, Johns has hosted more than 25 public Town Halls on a variety of issues.
