handyDART service expands weekday schedule

Campbell River will see a boost in handyDART services schedule starting this week.

handyDART is an accessible door to door shared transit service. The service is for those with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevent them from using transit without help from another person.

“People in Campbell River rely on safe and convenient handyDART service for many reasons, and expanding times will offer greater scheduling flexibility for riders who depend on this important service to reach their destinations,” Mayor Andy Adams said.

The Campbell River service expansion includes:

  • additional hour in the mornings
  • additional three hours in the evenings

This means service will be provided from 7:00am to 7:00pm from Monday to Friday. Saturday service will be from 9:00am to 7:30pm.

“The expanded handyDART service hours in Campbell River will help meet growing demand for custom transit services, so people who are unable to use conventional transit can have freedom and independence, connect with family and friends, and engage with their community,” Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena said.

“We are committed to improving handyDART services. Accessible and reliable transportation for all is key to building better, more inclusive communities.”
