Centennial pool roof to be replaced soon

Centennial pool is about to get some repairs.

Jason Decksheimer, the city’s Fleet and Facilities Manager, says work is set to begin in the week of September 3rd and will take about three weeks.

The project includes work on the change house facility and the mechanical building.

“The oldest section of roof on the change house roof was installed in the mid 90s and is at the end of its life. A newer section installed in early 2000s is still in good condition and will remain,” Decksheimer said.

He adds the mechanical room roof is also now at the end of its life. A portion of the room sits under a concrete deck, which is allowing water to seep into the building.

“We are installing a membrane over that portion as well to make sure the mechanical room is kept dry and secure. This work complements some major mechanical upgrades that are also happening at the pool this year including a new boiler, circulation pumps, and chemical injectors.”

Decksheimer adds the work was scheduled to begin after the pool closed for the season, so as not to interrupt operations.
