Fire crews respond to 9th Avenue pepper spray incident

Campbell River Fire crews were called to the Pacific West Apartments due to a strong odour.

The incident happened around 7:00pm yesterday night.

Fire Chief Thomas Doherty says the cause of the odour was pepper spray.

“What we found is that there appeared to be some pepper spray that had gone off in the building and was causing some difficulties,” said Doherty.

He added that no one was badly hurt and crews ventilated the building to make sure the odour and fumes from the pepper spray were completely out.
