City approves Community Development Engineer position

Campbell River has approved a community development engineer position to streamline and assist with development applications.

The position will be filled by the city’s former Utilities Manager, Jennifer Peters.

The city says Peters is a professional engineer and worked in private industry before joining the City of Campbell River in 2010.

The city’s Director of Planning, Peter Wipper says the experience Peters brings will be a good fit for the role.

“Jennifer having worked in the private industry understand the development side of things. Most importantly she has been involved in our utility development for our community for many years,” said Wipper.

“You combine that experience with the experience to actually process development applications, its a great combination and one that I think will really help us out.”

As the new community development engineer, Peters will lead Campbell River’s development engineering services and will play a key role in assisting the city for long term planning on major capital assets.

The city says with Peters in the new role, it will be looking to fill the Utilities Manager position in the future.
