Campbell River hosting tech competition

The City of Campbell River Economic Development and the Campbell River Angel Group are launching a competition.

The NexStream tech challenges are problem-solving opportunities aimed at strengthening Campbell River’s economy.

Individuals, schools and even businesses with ideas are encouraged to look at the four challenge statements and submit an expression of interest by October 31st.

The technology ideas include a marine wildlife monitor, a portable renewable energy pod, and a bladeless oyster shucker.

Campbell River Economic Development Officer Rose Klukas says the challenges are a great way to win money and get exposed to the tech community in Campbell River.

“Each challenge provides an opportunity to win a substantial cash prize that will support further development of these tech solutions. And there’s more: the competition process includes mentorship, skill-building and networking opportunities as well. The goal is to make sure that even those who don’t win a prize, get real value from the process,” said Klukas.

If you are interested in the challengers, an interactive information session will be held at noon on October 8th at the Campbell River North Island College campus.

More information on the competition is available here.
