Snowflakes have fallen on Mount Washington.

And while most of them melted on impact, it’s a good sign for the alpine resort between the Comox Valley and Campbell River.

Marketing manager Kayla Stockton said it snowed off and on over the weekend.

“We didn’t have a whole lot stick to the ground but it has been coming down in periods the last couple of days,” Stockton said.

There’s still lots of time for the snow to pile up on the mountain.

The planned opening day is Dec. 6.

Meanwhile, Stockton said for the first time in the resort’s history, it’s bringing a snow-making machine into the mix.

“That will be a really exciting feat for the year,” she said. “This is actually the first season that snow making has been installed. It’s quite the investment this year.”
