It’s a tragedy that comes with a reminder from the Campbell River RCMP.
A missing mushroom picker has lost his life. The RCMP says a call came in about the missing man, who was in his 60s, yesterday.
Police were able to track him down a short time after they got the call, but he had unfortunately passed away before he was found. Campbell River Search and Rescue helped the RCMP with the search which has now been turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service.
The death is not considered suspicious.
The RCMP is reminding anyone who ventures into the backcountry needs to make a plan beforehand.

- Let someone know when you’ll be back
- Use a GPS or map
- Be prepared to spend a night in the woods if something goes wrong
