Campbell River Storm to deliver teddy bears throughout the community

The Campbell River Storm hosts their annual Teddy Bear Toss tonight.

The Junior B team faces off against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings at the Rod Brind’Amour Arena at 7:30 pm.

The Storm has asked fans to bring along plush toys to toss onto the ice when they score their first goal of the game.

These toys will later be delivered throughout the community by the team, with usual stops including Yucalta Lodge, Evergreen Seniors Home and the hospital.

Jae-Yon Jones, manager of Yaculta Lodge, says residents are excited to receive more teddies.

“They are beaming from ear-to-ear when the team comes in,” Jones said. “They are young, vibrant and strong athletes that come with their vitality and the intergeneration relationship they have built with the residents.”

The Storm have hosted their Teddy Bear Toss for many years, bringing some extra cheer to the holiday season.

“The residents love the teddy bears. They display them very proudly in their rooms and some of them have quite a collection,” Jones added.
