Campbell River Hospice Society’s 1st Annual Campaign underway

The Campbell River Hospice Society is asking for help from the community this holiday season as it hopes to raise $75,000.

The society’s 1st Annual Campaign began on Nov. 28th, with all funds collected going towards the services it provides.

The funds are also critical in helping the society meet a growing need for additional services in Campbell River and area.

Executive Director Louise Daviduck is hoping the society can reach its goal.

“Right now, we are at about $22,000. We’ve still got quite a way to go and we’re a bit more than halfway through,” Daviduck says.

The money raised through the campaign will help implement a sudden death workshop, providing essential tools to help families deal with a tragic loss.

“When death happens suddenly without any expectation, the family can really have an even more difficult time dealing with that death,” Daviduck says. “This workshop helps to keep the family together and grieve as a family unit. A lot of times, people will fall apart and use unhealthy ways to deal with their grief.”

The Campbell River Hospice Society’s campaign is running until Dec. 31st.

To give, call 250-286-1121 or visit the Hospice Society’s website.

Those who donate online will receive an instant tax receipt via email.
