Campbell River welcomes first baby of 2020

The North Island Hospital in Campbell River has welcomed its first baby of the year.

Vienna Pearl Renaud was born at 3:26 pm on New Year’s Day.

With a due date of Dec. 27th, Vienna arrived a few days later than expected.

She is the second child to parents Darleena Jordan and Stefan Renaud of Cortes Island.

Vienna weighed eight pounds, six ounces at birth.

When asked about having a new year’s baby, Jordan said it’s “definitely surreal, especially because it’s a new decade too so it’s kind of special.”

In B.C., the first baby of the decade was born at 12:01 am on Jan. 1st at New Westminster’s Royal Columbian Hospital.
