Campbell River named one of Canada’s “Most Romantic Cities”

There’s a flair for romance around town.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Amazon Canada has released its list of the top 20 most romantic cities in the country.

Campbell River snagged the 17th spot.

Hermosa Lingerie’s Shae Code says she isn’t surprised.

“As far as we’re concerned, definitely around Valentine’s Day, we get a lot of people that are coming in and buying things for their partners. So, I think the chivalry and romance is definitely still alive in our little town,” Code says.

On the other hand, Unsugared Confectionary owner Teena Sieben says though “Valentine’s Day is usually pretty busy” for her local bakery, she’s not a romantic person and is surprised the city made the cut.

The eleventh annual ranking is made up of Amazon’s sales data from Jan. 1st, 2019 until Jan. 1st, 2020 in cities with a population greater than 20,000.

It looks at purchases of romance novels, romantic comedies, relationship books, jewellery and sexual wellness products.

Seven other cities in B.C. also made this list, including Kelowna, Victoria, Quesnel, Cranbrook, Prince George and Revelstoke.
