Campbell River RCMP report shines light on domestic violence

Campbell River RCMP is placing extra focus on domestic violence awareness and prevention.

Its first domestic violence report of the year has been released.

40 reports of files related to violence in relationships were responded to last month.

Another seven files were reports of breaches of conditions.

“Without proper intervention, domestic violence typically doesn’t stop,” RCMP says. “Sometimes it may de-escalate, but violence returns and often escalates in intensity and frequency.”

It says counselling, police, or criminal charges are typical forms of intervention.
