A celebration life is set for this weekend for a long time president of Steelworkers Union Local 1-1937.
Darryl Wong, passed away last Friday at the age of 56, after earlier going on medical leave.
Steelworkers spokesperson Gary Kobayashi says Wong had a lengthy career as a regional labour leader, involved in countless labour battles, and often chimed in on earlier negotiations to hammer out a Canada-U-S softwood lumber agreement.
A public celebration of life for Darryl Wong, goes this weekend in the Comox Valley.
Kobayashi says in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the Canadian Cancer Society.
