Downtown Wet’suwet’en protest planned for Campbell River tomorrow

Another Wet’suwet’en support rally is planned for tomorrow according to organizers.

A group of people were out Sunday afternoon blocking sections of Dogwood Street as they showed thier support for the Wet’suwet’en and thier views on the issues happening in Northern British Columbia.

The group stood in the middle of the road directly in front of the Campbell River RCMP detachment, causing traffic to be reduced to a single lane for around an hour.

The protest planned for tomorrow will be at a different location, however.

Organizers have said the rally is going to take place outside of Vancouver Island North MLA and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Clair Trevena’s office around 11:30am.

They have not said how long they plan to be out in front of the office.

This protest comes after a separate rally in both Courtenay and Campbell River caused Highway 19 to be closed for around a day. Individuals had set up barricades not allowing traffic to drive through.
