SD72 ramping up safety precautions after vehicle approaches student

SD72 has issued an important safety notice.

It comes after a student was approached by a vehicle in Campbell River on Wednesday.

He was offered a ride on Holm Rd. while walking home from school.

“Fortunately, this student ignored the driver and was able to make it home unharmed,” SD72 says.

The RCMP and all schools in the district have been made aware of the incident.

Students are now being reminded of important safety precautions and ‘Stranger Danger.’

This includes using the buddy system when walking to and from school, staying in open areas and sidewalks, and not speaking to a stranger if approached.

If followed by a vehicle, students should try to remember the license plate and tell a trusted adult right away.

Parents are urged to call the police if an incident happens before notifying their child’s school.
