L’Association Francophone de Campbell River looks to rebrand itself

A local non-profit is looking to change it up for 2020.

L’Association Francophone de Campbell River (AFCR) wants a new name as its reach has grown much further than the local community.

“We are offering activities and services now not only in the Campbell River region but also in the Comox Valley region,” says Executive Director Jeanne Landry. “We want a name that better reflects that reality.”

She says the association is geared towards Francophones and Francophiles of all ages.

Its goal is to “promote French, nourish it and make sure that it’s celebrated at any occasion.”

Late last year, the community was asked to submit names they thought would better suit the association.

It’s now been narrowed down to the top five names and you can vote for your favourite.

The choices include:

  • L’Association francophone de Strathcona (AFS)
  • Les Francs Coeurs de l’île de Vancouver (FCIV)
  • L’Association des francophones du coeur de l’île (AFCI)
  • L’Association francophone Beaufort-Tyee (AFBT)
  • Société francophone du centre de l’île de Vancouver (SFCIV)

Once a name is decided upon, the association is planning to launch a contest for its new logo.

“We’ll contact the French Immersion program and the French Core program as well as the general public to submit ideas for a new logo to match the new name,” Landry adds.

Tomorrow is the last day you can vote on a new name.
