A Campbell River restaurant is encouraging you to support local businesses.
The Whistlin’ Waffle shared a list of other restaurants in town that are open for pick up, delivery or drive-thru amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m a small business and I want people to know that I’m open,” says owner Jennifer Chung. “I think that a lot of people are stuck at home and they can’t go out to see what businesses are open. Social media does the work for us these days.”
The list also shares what restaurants have decided to shut down entirely.
Chung says many local business owners are struggling during this “hard time.”Â
“I think that a lot of small businesses are trying to support their family and support the staff that they have.”
She adds that the Whistlin’ Waffle, located on Dogwood Street, is offering both pick up and delivery.
“I’m operating by myself to eliminate the people that are in here. My staff are all staying at home and my husband is staying at home with our baby. I’m just operating my business by myself at the moment, trying to make a couple dollars to survive and pay my bills.”
