Construction work planned for new Quathiaski Cove lay-by berth

There’s some construction work planned at Quadra Island’s Quathiaski Cove next week.

BC Ferries will be carrying out a geotechnical investigation of the seabed condition at the proposed new ferry lay-by berth on May 19th and 20th.

The two-day work period will include the use of a marine rig to drive a number of test piles at the project site.

If you live close by, BC Ferries says you may hear some construction noise from pile driving and machinery.

All work is scheduled during the day and efforts will be made to lower the noise.

With the current COVID-19 situation in mind, BC Ferries adds that the work plan will limit all activities to the project site.

Crew members will stay overnight in Campbell River as opposed to Quadra Island.

BC Ferries is sending out thanks to its neighbours for their patience and understanding while the necessary investigation is completed.
