Storm add Campbell Riveritte to 2020-2021 roster

More local talent is joining the ranks of the Campbell River Storm this upcoming hockey season.

The team announced that Campbell Riveritte and forward Riley Billy is the latest to join the club this off-season.

Head Coach Lee Stone says the 6-foot-one, 178-pound winger’s strengths on both sides of the rink will make him a great addition.

“Riley is a very dynamic player with a high IQ for the game, he has the ability to play both wings and we fully expect him to step into an offensive role for the club next year,” explained Stone.

The 18-year old says the decision to play for his hometown team was an easy one.

“I grew up watching the Storm play. Now having the opportunity to become a member of the team is thrilling,” he said. “The number one attraction to me is how community-driven the program is. I am very excited to play in the Brindy on Friday nights as I know the atmosphere is very energetic,” said Billy.

He explains that while he wants to move onto Junior A hockey in near the future, he plans to make the most out of his time with the Storm.

“My goal is to contribute whatever it takes to win a championship this year and move on the collegiate hockey one day,” he said. “I am a gritty player who likes to play in the corners and on the forecheck. My offence is highlighted by my shot and vision.”

The team also announced the re-signing of right-winger, Courtenay native and fan favourite, Jory Swanson.
