Concerns over the new Campbell River hospital bed count continue

There was a big turn out at the latest meeting updating Campbell Riverites on the new hospital set to be built.

Some people came out to ask questions and many revolved around concerns over the number of beds planned for the facility, with people saying the 95 beds are not enough.

One audience member asked if part of the current hospital cannot be maintained as overflow bed space or for palliative care. North Island Hospitals Chief Project Officer Tom Sparrow says they spend a lot of time and money looking into that idea.

Another audience member asked what expansion potential there could be at some point in the future if more beds are needed. Sparrow says that is something they have had in mind from the beginning.

Over 70 people came out to hear the latest on the North Island Hospitals Project. The update included a time line of the project, it currently needs treasury board approval and cabinet ratification before moving on.
