Travel trailer goes up in flames at Campbell River homeless camp

The Campbell River RCMP is investigating a travel trailer fire at a homeless camp.

It happened Saturday night at around 7:30pm, when police were called to help the Campbell River Fire Department with the fire at an encampment at 2600 Quinsam Road.

Nobody was hurt, but the travel trailer was destroyed in the fire.

RCMP Const. Maury Tyre says they’re trying to piece together what happened.

“At this point in time, the fire is considered suspicious, however, it’s not clear if any criminality led to the fire or a simple lack of care,” Tyre said.

If you have information, you’re asked to call the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221
