The homeless encampment on Quinsam Road in Campbell River is no more.

RCMP constable Maury Tyre says police stood by to “ensure the safety of everyone” as crews came to clean up on the site this past Friday, October 30th.

The camp opened up back in May and housed around 20 people.

After an order to vacate was issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources early last month, most of the residents slowly moved out. Only three remained when crews arrived on Friday, and Tyre says they left peacefully.

He adds that police responded to over 50 calls for service at the camp since May, and says the RCMP had been working with local partners and the City to find more sustainable options for its residents.
