Deadline looming for Knights’ Christmas Hamper applications

With less than a week to go, the application deadline for the Knights of Columbus Community Christmas Hamper Fund is quickly approaching.

All applications need to be in by this coming Saturday, December 5th.

For 47 years, the Knights have been helping struggling individuals and families in Campbell River and surrounding areas by delivering hampers filled with goods just before Christmas.

In light of the ongoing pandemic, spokesperson Kevin Gearey says some big changes came into play this year, the first being where those in need can pick up an application form.

Forms are now available for pick-up at the Hamper Fund office, located inside the former True Blue pet store in Tyee Plaza on Shopper’s Row. Click here to find Tyee Plaza on Google Maps.

It’s open Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Starting Tuesday, December 1st, office hours will be extended to 5:00 pm.

Application forms are also available for pick-up at the Campbell River Food Bank, but Gearey says all completed forms must be returned to the Hamper Fund office in order to be processed.

For those who aren’t in need of a hamper, but would like to donate, Geary says donations of money, new toys, gifts, and non-perishable food items are encouraged. He adds that cash donations are accepted online this year.
