‘Don’t know how to drive in the snow? Stay home’: Campbell River RCMP

If you’re without the proper tires, or you’re not comfortable driving in the snow, the Campbell River RCMP is urging you to stay home.

In an effort to prevent accidents on the road today, Constable Maury Tyre is reminding drivers to keep a distance from other cars and to drive with some extra caution.

“We’ve got folks that can’t stop at stoplights because they’ve got summer tires, and we’ve got folks that haven’t figured out how to take snow off their vehicles before leaving their driveway,” he says.

According to Tyre, these are offences that could land you with a hefty fine, while adding “if you cause an accident, you’ll be fully at fault for it.”

If you’re heading out and about today, Tyre’s now reminding you to clean off the roof of your car prior to hitting the road.

“The snow today is beautiful, crystal snow,” he adds. “That also means if you’ve got a big, jacked-up pick-up, you might want to get a step ladder and clean off the top of your truck so the blowing snow coming off it doesn’t blind the driver behind you.”
