Rotary Club of Campbell River celebrating 75 years

It’s been nearly 75 years since the Rotary Club of Campbell River opened its doors.

The club was first chartered on March 18th, 1946 with 21 members; and all these years later, it’s still going strong.

This has prompted Mayor Andy Adams to proclaim next week (March 15th to 21st) Rotary Club Week, in an effort to recognize its “75 years of service to improving the quality of life in local communities around the world.”

“To date, the Rotary Club of Campbell River has contributed nearly $2-million and thousands of volunteer hours to community improvements,” Adams says.

According to the City, Rotary International is the world’s first and one of the largest non-profit service organizations. Around the world, it says there are more than 1.2-million Rotary Club members in more than 33,000 clubs.

“The Rotary motto Service Above Self inspires members to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and promote goodwill and peace in the world,” it adds.

The Rotary Club is currently sharing some “75th anniversary moments” on its Facebook page. See more here.
