New 49-unit apartment building proposed for Petersen Road

Campbell River city council has another major development permit application to review during their next meeting.

Joyce Reid Troost Architecture is looking to build a modern four-storey apartment building at 775 Petersen Road, across from the Campbell River Golf and Country Club.

It’ll be phase one of a multiphase development with a total of 49 rental units, in a “multi-family pedestrian-friendly residential building.” Units will utilize both ocean and city views.

The proposed building will be built into the slope on the 12.9-acre property, so it’ll appear to be only two-storeys from the road. According to the developer, this would not “overwhelm the frontage or the pedestrian realm on Petersen Road.”

There will also be two surface parking lots (totalling 75 parking spots), “which are connected by an internal collector road,” the developer notes.

The larger surface parking lot is located south of the proposed building, under the hydro transmission lines, which is part of a BC Hydro easement area.

“Currently, an application has been submitted to BC Hydro to consider whether BC Hydro would permit parking, lighting, and landscaping within their easement area.”

My Campbell River Now will provide more updates on this project when available.
