Campbell River’s ‘Ripple Rock Estates’ will see hundreds of new homes and its own sewer system

The new residential neighborhood planned for north Campbell River – near Ripple Rock – will have its own sewer system.

Last month, council gave the go-ahead for ‘Ripple Rock Estates’. The development will see hundreds of new homes, with views of Ripple Rock and Seymour Narrows.

Because the homes will be located beyond Campbell River’s infrastructure services, Mayor Andy Adams confirms the neighbourhood will require its own sewer system.

“Similar to the existing larger lot subdivision at Race Point Road, it is beyond the City’s infrastructure services. All water, sewer, transit, and those normal city services are not provided for that,” he says. “So they will have to have their own stand-alone systems and services.”

But it won’t just be a residential development, as plans for commercial spaces have also been approved for the area. The development permit was approved at council’s May 10th meeting.

“This development at 6805 Island Highway north of town will provide a new low-density residential Strata development,” Adams told My Campbell River Now following the meeting.

“It will have 200 lots with water views and public access to the waterfront. Plans also include for a hotel and commercial use within walking distance of the houses.”
