BC Parks upgrades Loveland Bay beach area, adds new campsites

It’s upgrades galore for Loveland Bay Provincial Park.

The small, rustic park offers camping and boat launching directly onto Campbell Lake. It’s a convenient base camp for day tripping to attractions in nearby Campbell River, Gold River, Sayward, Kelsey Bay, and Quadra and Cortes Islands.

This summer, Loveland Bay park-goers will notice a reconstructed beach area with picnic tables, a universally designed beach access ramp, plus an additional 21 campsites. And it’s all thanks to BC Parks.

To ensure all B.C’ers can get out and enjoy nature, BC Parks says it’s continuing to make accessibility upgrades in parks throughout the province. With more than 23-million visits each year, new welcome signs are also being installed at entrance points, such as parking lots, kiosks, campgrounds, and trailheads.

But it doesn’t stop there. The upgrades extend online, too. New accessibility information is also being added to the BC Parks website. People will be able to see photos and descriptions of facilities before they arrive at the park they plan to visit.

“Our provincial parks are a place for everyone, and these initiatives are the beginning of a renewed commitment and an important step in our long-term commitment to inclusion, equity, and diversity,” notes Kelly Greene, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment.

She says B.C. is strong because of the diversity of people, adding it’s important our parks system ensures that everyone is welcome and comfortable as they enjoy the outdoors.
