BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

Nanaimo North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley says BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act needs work.

Routley is the Deputy Chair of a special all-party committee that is currently taking a close look at the legislation.

He is also the NDP’s FOI critic. Routley says the provincial government isn’t even required to keep records.

Routley adds in some cases they’ve discovered the Liberals intentionally destroyed documents.

The public can weigh in on the consultation process online until the end of January, and public hearings will be held in Victoria and Vancouver in October.
