Campbell River Fire crews quickly extinguish downtown blaze

Campbell River Fire crews are keeping busy, putting out fires just minutes after they’re reported.

At 1:18 pm today (Tuesday), firefighters were called to a blaze burning behind a downtown commercial building on 13th Avenue.

“911 received a call that there was a fire beside the old Rosebowl Restaurant. When we arrived, there was roughly a three-by-four fire burning,” Campbell River Fire’s David Lagos says.

He tells My Campbell River Now it appears someone’s ‘personal belongings’ caught ablaze. No injuries were reported, with the cause of the fire not known at this time.

Lagos says crews extinguished the fire quickly, using an inch and three-quarter tack line to get things under control.

This comes just days after crews responded to an apartment fire along Highway 19A near Rotary Beach Park.
