Upgrades underway at Elk Falls Park

Upgrades to Elk Falls Park may come as welcome news for outdoor enthusiasts and local hikers, but it’s noted trail closures abound.

Trail, boardwalk, and bridge reconstruction got underway in early August. As crews continue their work, officials are advising of multi-week-long closures.

According to BC Parks, areas affected include the Millennium Trail halfway point boardwalk. This section is closed off until next Monday, Aug. 23rd.

Meanwhile, the southwest section of Canyon View Trail is closed until next Friday, Aug. 27th. However, there’s a reroute for hikers in place along the John Hart Road. As well, the Canyon View Trail northwest boardwalk is closed until Sept. 1st.

With this in mind, hikers are urged to adhere to trail closures for not only their own safety but for the safety of workers. “Your cooperation is appreciated,” BC Parks adds.
