Courtenay restaurant closes temporarily due to COVID exposure

A Vancouver Island restaurant is temporarily closed because of a COVID exposure.

Courtenay’s Atlas Cafe announced on social media yesterday that it was informed of exposures on Aug. 15th, during its day service, and on the 18th and 19th for its evening services.

They went on to say that in light of this Vancouver Island Health Authority notification, they have decided to voluntarily close the restaurant until further notice.

In the post, Atlas said it “deeply respects and cares for both its staff and community’s health,” and has been diligent with following all its mandated Health and Safety protocols.

“Any patrons who visited us specifically (on) the above mentioned dates… we advise to reach out to Island Health if you are experiencing any symptoms or if you have any concerns at all please email us at [email protected],” they continued.

“We have worked so hard at creating a safe place for both our staff and you, our valued guests. Despite our best efforts we now must focus on ensuring our staff are  healthy and safe moving forward.”

They said they’ll keep patrons posted as to “when we will return to doing what we love to do, but safety first.”

“BIG LOVE to our entire team as they, once again, rise up with resiliency and camaraderie as we navigate through these turbulent and unprecedented times,” they added.
