SD72 recognized for big energy savings at FortisBC’s 2021 ‘Efficiency in Action Awards’

The Campell River school district is being recognized by FortisBC for its efforts to make schools more energy efficient.

FortisBC announced the winners of its 2021 ‘Efficiency in Actions Awards’ for positive and innovative work on saving energy.

School District 72 is among 11 winners in the province.

The district was recognized for using high-efficiency boilers at Willow Point and Phoenix Middle Schools and a condensing makeup air unit at Southgate Middle school’s workshop.

FortisBC Community Programs, Conservation and Energy Management Manager Carol Suhan says it’s inspiring to see these organizations find innovative ways to integrate energy efficiency.

“We’re proud to honour their achievements today and showcase the collective effort that is helping us achieve a lower carbon energy future,” Suhan said.

Other winners included private companies and Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt.
