Man on scooter left injured after pelted with glass bottles: Quadra Island RCMP

Police on Quadra Island say a local man driving an electric scooter was left injured this week after being pelted with glass bottles.

According to the local RCMP detachment, the incident occurred this past Monday (Oct. 18) in the 1400-block of West Rd.

Police say the victim of the attack was travelling northbound on his scooter when passengers of a black Cadillac SUV threw two empty glass bottles in his direction.

“One of the bottles hit the victim’s helmet causing it to crack, and the second bottle shattered on the ground resulting in glass shards injuring the victim’s eye,” Cst. Rebekah Draht said in a release.

The victim told police that the vehicle had a front Alberta license plate, however, he was unable to provide the plate number or a description of the occupants.

“The victim has since recovered but the matter is still under investigation,” Draht added.

At this time, the Quadra Island RCMP asks anyone with information to call them directly at (250) 285-3631. To make an anonymous report, tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or submit a tip online.
