The Festival of Trees is back at the Museum at Campbell River, spreading holiday cheer and dazzling those who stop by.

In its 9th year, the festival kicked off last Saturday, Dec. 4, and runs until Dec. 30. It’s open to the public Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am until 5 pm, with no entry fee.

“People just love it,” says promotions coordinator Erika Anderson. “It’s nice that it’s indoors, so even if the weather’s not so great, it’s a good place to go and just have a peaceful time.”

Each year, businesses, organizations and individuals come forward to sponsor trees, transforming the museum’s ‘Changing Gallery’ into a winter wonderland.

“Kids love it; they just see all these things you wouldn’t even notice,” Anderson tells My Campbell River Now.

“When I walk in the room, I just feel good. You don’t have to spend any money; you can enjoy yourself and relax. Listen to some music, enjoy the sparkly lights.”

According to Anderson, visitors can also bring their camera to snap photos or leave a note on the gratitude tree.

As well, until Dec. 18, organizers invite the public to vote on their favourite tree of the bunch. The tree with the most votes will win the coveted People’s Choice Award.

*Note: The Festival of Trees is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and closes at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
