Multiple counterfeit bills passed recently in Campbell River area

Multiple counterfeit bills have been passed recently in the Campbell River area.

“It is extremely important for business owners to train employees how to identify counterfeit bills to ensure that they do not make their way into the system,” said Campbell River RCMP Cst. Maury Tyre.

The Bank of Canada website can help with this training.

“Simple policies in stores can also reduce the risk of people trying to pass large bills,” said Tyre.

Certain businesses don’t accept $100 or $50 bills.
