New road to be built for less congestion, more noise for residents

A new temporary connector road will be built to ease congestion in the Willow Creek area.

The City of Campbell River says the gravel road will be a roadway will be built between Twillingate Road and Nebraska Drive, connecting to Highway 19A. They say it will be for residents who are being impacted by the South Island Highway sewer project.

Construction of the $130,000 roadway will begin in the first week of March. It is expected to open the following week.

The road will be wide enough for two-way traffic, and a gravel path for pedestrians will also be in place. The city says residents can expect more road noise over the next few months.

Road work will be done so that it stays driveable. The connector will be closed once the sewer project is finished.

It will be converted to a residential road in future.
