The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. and Campbell River RCMP are investigating after a fatal incident at the Discovery Harbour marina.
RCMP say they were contacted about a homicide early Monday morning with hostages being held at the marina.
Officers say they responded, made sure the hostages were safe and tried to negotiate with the male suspect, who reportedly had a weapon.
Police say shots were fired while they were interacting with the suspect, and he was pronounced dead.
Police didn’t release any additional information about the reported homicide and aren’t releasing any more details at this time.
