Heat warning issued for east Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast

Temperatures will be heating up again this week, with daytime highs expected between 29 and 34 degrees.

Environment Canada issued a warning for Wednesday and Thursday for areas between Campbell River and Nanoose Bay and along the Sunshine Coast.

The agency adds nighttime temperatures are expected to be between 15 and 17 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to start cooling off on Friday and into the weekend.

Environment Canada says the risks are greater for pregnant women, young children, older adults and people working or exercising outdoors.

They ask residents to watch for effects of heat illness, like rash, cramps and fainting, and to drink plenty of water.
