With temperatures predicted to drop to below-freezing inland, the Campbell River Community Centre will be used as a warming centre for the unhoused.
The centre will open at 10 o’clock tonight, and be open until 7 tomorrow morning.
The centre will be run by the City of Campbell River and the Coalition to End Homelessness. It will be staffed by people with experience working with those experiencing homelessness.
Funding is coming from the city.
They add they do not expect to open the centre from Dec. 13 to 16, but are monitoring the forecast in case conditions change.
